The goddess of love in Babylon was also a might warrioress, who rode a lion into battle. This is her, Ishtar (also called Inanna). I painted this with watercolour and a bit of gouache for those darker colours

If you go by double negatives, two wrongs DO make a right. And three rights make a left, so six wrongs=one left.
Holy shit, this also rocks! Why are people not commenting? Your stuff is fantastic!

woooow! thats really good! ^-^ great job!
you are a really amazing artist.
*don not take personally*

but...
myself, i find it a downer that so many amazing artists turn what could be an undisputably fantastic piece into something that looks more like a bikini model calendar shot.
But i guess thats the 'IN' thing to do...

besides that, i think the piece would have a lot more power to it if the woman were facing more towards the viewer, just with her face not her body.

but yeah, you're a terrific artist and i'd like to see your gallery expand!
This is fabulous. I don't know if you intended all the symbolism, but it's fantastic. Beautiful work.
Great gesture and form :)
beautiful... i like her sword :-p
she looks a little like catherine zeta-jones
Ah! I've tried to draw an Ishtar picture (or maybe just a woman or young girl with a lion - they were sort of two separate ideas but they seemed too alike to make two pictures with a lion) at least three times and butchered it every time. Now I'm working on some other things, but maybe I'll come back to it and finally get it right. This came out great though (I thought 'Ishtar' before I even read the title, so you must have done it right :)
It´s very nice!
